10 die in U.S. school shooting rampage
A HIGH school student shot dead nine people and then killed himself Monday at Minnesotas Red Lake Indian Reservation in the United States in the worst school shooting since the 1999 Columbine massacre, authorities said.
The shootings occurred around 3 p.m. at Red Lake High School in a rural town in the northern part of the state.
The school is on an Indian reservation and has more than 300 students, according to its Web site.
Local media said the shooter killed his grandparents before heading to the school armed with three guns. He then reportedly killed a male security guard outside the school before entering the premises and opening fire on students in a corridor.
Among the dead were a female teacher and at least five other students, the FBI said. At least a dozen others were wounded in the carnage.
