Shenzhen Party chief Wang Rong announced the start of work on the new projects Tuesday at the groundbreaking ceremony for Pingyan Passage, an 11.2-km expressway extending from Pingshan New Area to Yantian District.
The projects are concentrated in four areas: public livelihood, infrastructure, emerging industries and urban renovation. About 3.3 billion yuan will be spent on six public livelihood projects, including a cultural complex in central Pingshan, a city-level social welfare center and a city-level nursing home. About 9.1 billion yuan will be spent on eight infrastructure projects, including Pingyan Passage, Liantang Checkpoint in Luohu District, a water treatment plant in Futian District and a natural gas facility.
About 30.2 billion yuan will be spent on emerging industries, including an enterprise building for technology research and development and a new production line for high-tech company CSOT in Guangming New Area.
About 12.1 billion yuan will be spent on four urban renewal projects.
Other key projects include a public art museum; a science museum, Children"s Palace and Book City store in Longgang District; an ecological restoration project in Bao"an District; and a water treatment plant in Guangming.
Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin said quality and safety should be the primary concerns throughout project planning, design and construction.
