Shenzhen had administered more than 23 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to its residents, with over 10 million citizens having completed their two-dose vaccinations, the city’s health authority said yesterday.
The two-dose inactivated vaccines are widely used in the city’s inoculation drive, in addition to a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine.
Chang Juping, the city’s health commission deputy director, said that Shenzhen can administer a maximum of 600,000 doses of vaccines per day. At present, the city has set up 75 large-sized temporary vaccination sites and 426 fixed vaccination sites.
As of yesterday, the city reported no locally transmitted confirmed and asymptomatic COVID-19 cases, according to the commission.
The city’s health commission has launched a COVID-19 vaccination map to facilitate the public to find the vaccination sites. Citizens can find the map (新冠疫苗接种地图) by following the WeChat account of the commission “深圳卫健委” (szwjwwx) and clicking on “打疫苗” at the bottom of the WeChat interface.
Wu Bing, an inspector with the city’s office of port entry and exit, said at a press conference Friday that the city will implement a “14+7” health management policy on inbound travelers who have stayed in countries with high risk of COVID infections.
The policy requires that inbound travelers from high-risk countries should have a 14-day isolated medical quarantine at designated sites in the city, followed by a seven-day medical observation at home.
Inbound travelers who don’t have a permanent residence in the city will be subject to a 21-day isolated medical quarantine at designated sites.
During the medical quarantine period, nasopharyngeal or throat swab samples will be collected on the first, fourth, seventh and 14th day, respectively, for nucleic acid tests. A nucleic acid test will be added on the 10th day for inbound travelers who have stayed in high-risk countries, said Wu.
Additionally, Shenzhen will offer centralized residences and implement closed-loop management for staff working at high-risk positions at the airport, land checkpoints, port terminals, customs and border checkpoints.
According to Gao Bo, deputy general manager of Shenzhen Bus Group, the group had conducted several rounds of nucleic acid testing on its staff and the results were all negative. Meanwhile, all of its frontline workers have completed their COVID-19 vaccinations.
As of Thursday, more than 1.1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across China, the National Health Commission said Friday.
Official data showed that over 630 million people have been vaccinated in China, with a vaccination rate of over 40 percent.
