THE Executive Office of the Organizing Committee for the Shenzhen 26th Summer Universiade is soliciting 10 songs from around the world for the 2011 Universiade, offering a prize of 10,000 yuan (US$1,462) for each entry.
The deadline for entries is Dec. 5. Any individual or institution can contribute songs and lyrics centered around the Universiade, torch relay and voluntary service. The organizer will offer 3,000 yuan for each of the top five lyrics writers. The music must be original and not have been published or used in any form.

Shenzhen plans to organize the largest Universiade in terms of sports events and participation of athletes.
In a report to an inspection team headed by Wang Shunsheng, chairman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People"s Political Consultative Conference, Vice Mayor Liang Daoxing, director of the executive office, said Shenzhen planned to award 286 gold medals for the 21 Universiade sports events. The plan will be handed to the executive board of the International University Sports Federation, the governing body of the Universiade, in October to be reviewed and approved.
Wang inspected the construction sites of the Universiade Sports Center and Universiade Athlete Village in Longgang District on Tuesday. A total of 67 venues will either be built or renovated for the Games to be held in August 2011.
For marketing and sponsorship, Liang said the executive office had signed partnership agreements with six companies including the China Southern Power Grid, China Merchants Bank and Kingway Brewery.
