Workers give final touches to an exhibit for the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Thursday.
A RECORD number of overseas buyers are expected to attend China"s top cultural feast, which opens Friday at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.
Buyers and visitors from more than 65 countries and regions will attend the four-day Sixth China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), including 10,000 at the main venue in the convention center and 6,000 at the 35 subvenues across the city, Vice Mayor Yan Xiaopei said Thursday.
About 14,000 overseas buyers attended last year"s ICIF.
Some 1,787 delegations organized by governments, companies and organizations from 65 countries and regions will attend the fair, which will last until Monday, Yan said.
The organizer expects the transaction volume to reach a record 90 billion yuan (US$13 billion) this year, 2 billion yuan more than 2009. The volume of overseas purchases is expected to reach 10 billion yuan, said Yan.
All booths at the main venue had already been booked, the organizer said.
Two delegations of exhibitors and buyers at the Shanghai Expo, totaling 450 people, will visit the fair.
The organizer hoped the ICIF would yield 200 billion yuan in transactions in 2020 with 2,500 exhibitors and more than 500,000 professional visitors, according to a 10-year plan for the ICIF released Thursday.
The ICIF was first held in 2004.
