THE Meilin Service Hall of the Exit-Entry Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau opened Monday after a nearly two-month facelift, offering 24-hour endorsement service for travel permits to Hong Kong and Macao.
Equipped with 16 self-service machines, the newly renovated hall, which covers 560 square meters, is divided into several sections, including a waiting area, self-service section, online application area and endorsement printing areas.
After making an online reservation for endorsement of travel permits to Hong Kong and Macao, a resident can go to the hall to have an endorsement printed at any time of the day with an ID card and travel permits using the 24-hour self-service. If a resident is in a hurry to Hong Kong and Macao and doesn"t fill out the online application beforehand, the 24-hour self-service can be used even during weekends for residents with Guangdong hukou. This privilege can be used once every two months.
The self-service machine can finish printing one endorsement in 3 minutes and the hall can handle about 2,000 to 3,000 applicants a day.
The 24-hour self-service will be expanded to the public security sub-bureaus in six districts and four new areas. The Meilin Service Hall is at the intersection of Meilin Road and Kaifeng Road in Futian and offers 88 free parking places.
