Shenzhen reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case today, according to a press conference held by the Information Office of Shenzhen Municipal Government at the Civic Center in Futian District this afternoon.
The female patient, 39, lives in Longgang District and works in Luohu District. She was found to be infected in a routine nucleic acid test of key groups.
The patient has been sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment and was diagnosed as a mild case.
Four COVID-19 cases have been reported in the city since Friday. The four cases belong to the same transmission chain.
After preliminary investigation, the newly confirmed patient recently mainly drove between her home and her workplace. In addition, she had taken taxis and had ride-hailing trips.
“All the four cases belong to the same transmission chain and are related to each other,” Lin Hancheng, an official from the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, said at todays conference.
As of today, 767 close contacts and 548 secondary close contacts of the four confirmed COVID cases had been put under health monitoring.
Since the newly found case’s workplace is located in Luohu, the district has increased nucleic acid testing frequency of personnel in the designated new control areas, restricted gatherings, and closed down nonessential business places and public activity spaces, according to Zuo Jinping, vice head of the Luohu District Government.
Two community service hotlines 25612881 and 22311017 were announced for Luohu residents who are affected by the lockdown.
Meanwhile, Gu Gengjun, vice head of the Longgang District Government, said Longgang has designated two new control areas in Buji Subdistrict to curb the spread of COVID-19. In addition, the subdistrict has set up three 24-hour service hotlines 84500386, 84507086 and 84500395.
Shenzhen reported one locally transmitted COVID case yesterday. The patient, living and working in Longgang, was the close contact of Friday’s case.
From 9 p.m. yesterday, the two buildings where the three cases reported Friday and yesterday lived were designated as medium-risk areas for COVID-19.
All sports and entertainment venues in Longgang were temporarily closed beginning today, according to a notice issued by Longgang’s COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters office today. In addition, all child care facilities and offline education and training institutions in the district have been ordered to close.
Based on preliminary epidemiological investigation, the latest COVID-19 resurgence in Shenzhen was sparked by imported cases related to the Delta variant, according to Zhu Wu, deputy director of the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission.
The Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reminded citizens yesterday to take personal safety precautions, wear masks throughout the process, keep a one-meter distance and go to designated sampling locations in an orderly manner at different times during large-scale nucleic acid sampling.
The CDC said that nucleic acid results are usually available within 24 hours and due to the heavy workload of nucleic acid detection recently, citizens are advised to wait patiently for the results as the data upload might be slightly delayed.
