CONSTRUCTION of the third phase of Nanping Expressway is expected to start sometime this year, Shenzhen"s transport commission said.
The project will include work in Longgang District and Pingshan New Area, from Hengping Flyover on Shuiguan Expressway in the west to Julong Road in the east.
The expressway section will span about 22 kilometers, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday. The section will intersect with Shuiguan Expressway and include 15 flyovers.
The commission said Nanping Expressway is an important road for freight transport.
The first phase of the expressway has been completed and the second phase is under way, the paper said.
Another 12 transportation projects also are expected to start this year, and 12 more, including the Xincai Passage, will be completed his year, the commission said.
Xincai Passage will connect Longhua New Area with central Futian District and is expected to relieve traffic at Meilin Checkpoint.
The completion of Kuiba Road will shorten the driving time between Baguang and Kuichong in eastern Shenzhen from 30 minutes to about seven minutes, the paper said.
Shenzhen completed 17 transportation infrastructure projects last year, including Hezhou Flyover, which connects the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway with the new terminal of Shenzhen International Airport.
