People returning to Shenzhen from Hubei Province after the holiday are required to remain isolated for 14 days upon arrival, according to notices released by the city’s commanding office combating the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Sunday.
Those arriving from Hubei, the province hit hardest by the virus outbreak, must also register upon arrival and cooperate with checks performed by work stations, community doctors and police offices. If symptoms such as fever, cough or fatigue are detected, they must receive treatment at a hospital fever clinic. Doctors can determine whether isolation at home or centralized isolation is necessary. Those who have been in close contact with confirmed novel coronavirus cases must undergo centralized isolation observation.
Isolation observation will be conducted at designated hotels.
According to Luo Lexuan, director with Shenzhen Public Health Commission, those who are returning from areas outside Hubei Province must also undergo observation for 14 days upon arrival at Shenzhen.
Enterprises are not allowed to resume operations before 12 a.m. Feb. 10, excluding vital enterprises and industries such as the water, power, gas supplies, telecommunications, transport and sanitation industries. Logistics companies and manufacturers of anti-epidemic products, foods and daily necessities are also exempt from the business suspension.
Enterprises are required to establish an accountability and liaison mechanism and designate personnel to be responsible for registration, monitoring, screening and reporting employees who went to Hubei before and after the Spring Festival holidays.
A total of 135,607 people returned to Shenzhen on Sunday, a decrease of 76 percent over the same day last year. Among them, 102,715 took trains and 27,230 took flights, according to Shenzhen traffic authorities.
The Shenzhen airport performed temperature checks on all inbound and outbound passengers.
Shenzhen North Railway Station saw about 80,000 passengers a day since Jan. 27. Shenzhen North Railway Station and Shenzhen Railway Station installed infrared detection equipment at all exits and entrances. Passengers suspected of having a fever will undergo a second round of checks.
