METRO Line 11 will adopt two fare systems for its eight-carriage trains when it opens June 30.
For the six regular carriages, riders need to pay 2 to 10 yuan (US$0.3-1.54) for a trip along the 51.94-km line that runs through Futian, Nanshan and Bao"an districts. But for the two business carriages, the starting price is six yuan and the maximum price for the whole trip is up to 30 yuan.
The city"s Metro fare is calculated with a starting price of two yuan for the first 4 kilometers and an additional one yuan for every 4 kilometers for sections between 4 kilometers and 12 kilometers, an additional one yuan for every six kilometers for sections between 12 kilometers and 24 kilometers.
For sections beyond 24 kilometers, riders could pay an additional one yuan for a distance of 8 kilometers.
Based on this standard, the trip from Futian Station in Futian CBD to Shenzhen International Airport will cost seven yuan in the regular carriage and 21 yuan in the business carriage, the Shenzhen Metro Group said yesterday.
The fares for 1,030 calculation sections will be lowered one yuan or two yuan after Line 11 opens.
For example, the trip from Qianhaiwan to Sea World, which covers 20.2 kilometers, costs six yuan now. After the opening of Metro Line 11, the distance will be shortened to 11.9 kilometers and riders need to pay four yuan for the trip. The Shenzhen Metro Group will charge fees by the shortest distance between two stations.
Line 11 starts from Futian Station and ends at Bitou Station in Bao"an. It has 18 stations with 10 interchange stations, five of which will be put into operation at the end of the year when Metro lines 7 and 9 are put into service. The line is also called the Airport Express because it runs at a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour and has a stop at the Shenzhen airport.
Passengers can change to Shekou Line and Longgang Line at Futian Station and to Lines 7 and 9 at Chegongmiao. It takes about 20 seconds to change to Line 9 at Hongshuwan South Station, but about six minutes to change to Shekou Line at Houhai Station as riders have to walk about 300 meters.
Riders can also change to Luobao Line and Huanzhong Line at Qianhaiwan Station.
